We provide a wide range of counseling services to meet the needs of adults, couples, adolescents, and families who are interested in improving their relationships and needing support to address specific mental health issues such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, and trauma, to name a few. While our services are varied, each is designed to promote living more authentically and is based on our three core values:
Compassion: the cornerstone of good mental health care is not only to acknowledge and understand the suffering of our clients, no matter how simple or complex their circumstance; but also to work together to find a way to help. We strongly believe in honoring a person’s unique struggle and offer personalized counseling services in a safe environment.
Competency: more than simply having credentials behind their names, our therapists are truly experts in their field. Through continuing education, years of experience, and a core belief that good therapy starts with knowing your client first, GTA therapists give our clients the best mental health care possible.
Creativity: real therapy comes in many different forms- group, individual counseling and sometimes DIY at home self-help. We believe that the best therapy is the one that is accessible and appropriate for you. That’s why we are always developing new and innovative research-based services and tools that are designed to meet your needs.

Group or individual? Therapy or coaching?
Sometimes these decisions can seem overwhelming but we are here to help simplify the process. One of the easiest ways to determine which service is right for you is to schedule an appointment with one of our therapists. During your first session, your therapist will listen and ask questions to better understand the specific issues that led you to consider therapy. Typically you will talk about yourself, your relationships, work/school performance, family life, and any other concerns that you would like a professional perspective.
Therapy sessions are 50-minutes long and give you the opportunity to talk with a therapist about how therapy might help your situation. Simply call our office or schedule your appointment online, and our therapists will help you make an informed decision about the best form of therapy for you.
For those clients looking for a more in-depth analysis of their situation, we also offer therapeutic assessments. Assessments are 2-hour therapeutic interviews, designed to determine individual and family functioning. During the assessment your therapist will examine various areas of your life in an effort to understand the presenting issues from a biological, psychological, and social perspective. After your assessment appointment you will receive a written report that summarizes your overall emotional and social well-being and offers specific treatment and self-care recommendations. An assessment does not include neuro-psychological or educational tests, however, we are happy to make a referral to one of our local colleagues should that be necessary.
Group vs. Individual
Our services can be divided into two distinct therapy approaches – group and individual. We believe that the dynamics of group therapy, when led by skilled professionals, can be a powerful catalyst for growth and change and so we offer a variety of groups to address common issues that face teens, adults, and couples. While group is a wonderful resource, we also realize that a group setting may not always be the right therapeutic choice for every client or situation; so we provide one-on-one (individual). Our therapists work one-on-one with couples, teens, and individuals who want to address a myriad of issues. To further customize our approach, these one-on-one services are divided into two areas – therapy and coaching; both of which are available for individuals and couples.
Therapy vs. Coaching

When considering our individual services, our clients have two options- therapy or coaching. While these two services may seem similar there are some differences to consider. The
first of which is that therapy is designed to help you explore and heal the emotional and psychological reasons that prevent you from achieving your goals; while coaching is focused only on developing and implementing a strategic plan for successful change. One of the benefits of coaching is flexibility. Because it’s not bound by some of the same healthcare guidelines as therapy, these services can be offered in non-traditional settings like your office or the local coffee shop. While therapy may not offer the same flexibility as coaching, it does offer a more in-depth, comprehensive look at your life. And, our therapy clients often say that it has enriched their lives beyond the specific issues that originally brought them into our office.
In addition, we offer an innovative new service called ‘Uniquely You.’ This is a therapist-designed self help tool that supports you as you work to solve your problems independently. A coach thoroughly assesses your concerns then develops a customized plan of action for you to implement on your own at home. To learn more about this service visit our Tools Page.
